Weird news from BleedingCool, I discovered it just today:
"Yesterday, Bleeding Cool reported how today's Valen The Outcast Joe Jusko 1-200 cover variant was rather
limited. That only 25 were going to qualifying stores who ordered the required amount. And that the rest of the 500 print run would be burned.
Some people thought that was a joke. Well, yesterday, they actually did it. Here we have writer Michael Alan Nelson, Steve Niles and Boom! staffers setting the remaining print run on fire.
Yup, a good old fashioned book burning. And with each flame licking along the stapled edges, those remaining 25 copies get more and more scarce"
here's a video of Michael Alan Nelson burning copies of "Valen the Outcast" #1:
[link]It makes a strange effect recognizing my pages while they're burning.... sigh!
Teo
Even beacuse the guy who's burning them is the writer of this series, eheheh
You know... this makes me now NOT want the variant on principle.
Better yet, I can claim one of the issues they burned as "mine."
They could have saved money by going to ka-blam and ordering only 25 copies.
The fact is that they heve to print copies way prior to the orders, os sometimes they've got to risk.
