I know you've heard this from me before, but your gallery is definitly one of the most artistically educational that I've found. Many artists that I've talked to have said that they've learned alot about shape and style through simply looking through your gallery. You make it look so simple yet, so fantastic. I've drawn a couple of pieces using the coloring techniques that I've learned from your sketches. I would love it if you would check 'em out and possibly even comment with tips or tricks!
first of all, thanks for the kind words. I gave a look at your gallery, here's some tip: I like the way you're drawing faces, I think you're going in the right direction with them. I think that you should work more on anathomy, I suggest you to buy some Fitness and BodyBuilding magazines, and try copying bodies from there, using also some anatomy book (Burne Hogarth is a classic when you begin) as a reference. At the same time, I suggest you to start studying backgrounds also, just to start taking confidence with ambients also. you could simply search for images of cities, woods, offices, etc. and start drawing them.
Ok cool! Yeah, I have noticed that I struggle pretty badly with proportions and anatomy. I like how the anatomy in your gallery is correct, yet stylized. Did you start with this kind of stylization or did you learn how to draw it properly and fit that into your style? Ok then. I'll definitly start working a bit more with backgrounds. Again, I think I need to get a little more realistic skill before I try to stylize my art. See, this is why I love Deviant Art. Professional artists like yourself take the time to look through noob's galleries ( like mine) and give them actual relevant feedback. A thousand thanks brotha!
no problem! anyway, YES, absolutely YES. You MUST absolutely study realistic drawing for a lot of time before starting the stylization. Remember: every good drawing has a realistic basis. Even the cartoony ones. EVER. CIAO!
Very nice! I just started some classes at school toaday ( 2D design and Drawing 1 ), which will hopefully give me a bit more skill base. I'll let ya know if I post anything that I would want you to critique!
