hey guys,
here's an illustration I did for Connla, a celtic story written by Tommaso DeStefanis, amazing writer and great friend of mine.
This is the second scene, where Scathach and Aife - two sisters - fight against each other.

First off, I'd like to say how awesome the lines are on this. The figures have so much form, and the tattoos add a lot to the image (without them, it would just be another picture of two naked chicks fighting). That being said, I think the poses need a little more work. Both figures have their right legs in the same position, with the left legs back and in darkness, making it look a little awkward. It might be beneficial to play with their poses, or have the figure in the background turned slightly to differentiate them from each other. Another problem with the pose on the foreground figure is that her right arm isn't visible, but her hand is, making it look like the hand is sprouting from... ahem... a place a hand should not be coming from. This is an easy fix, though. Simply show a hint of the right shoulder below her chin, and have her arm bent at her side, as if to block the figure behind her. Another pose problem is involving the background figure, who looks like she's stabbing herself in the leg, but that's an easy fix too. Either overlap the sword in front of her leg, or angle the sword back more. Varying the line weight on the foreground figure may help separate the two as well. Aside from those nitpicky (albeit important) problems, I think this piece is extremely strong. The foreground shapes help add depth to the environment, as well as the simple linear elements in the background. It was a wise decision to add some white and grey elements into the black foreground shape so that it has depth and texture of its own. Great work with amazing action!
