Believe me, that is not that case.

According to writer, Howard Shum HYPERKINETIC is about "four intergalactic highly skilled female bounty hunters pursue an elusive prey. They end up going through a wormhole and crashing on a weird alien planet. They now have bigger concerns such as giant killer robots and crazy aliens".

The issue that I read of HYPERKINETIC had all the basic elements of a what makes a great comic... great! First of all the visuals are a lot of fun. They’re fluid, dynamic, and repeatedly refreshing. Matteo Scalera has a very expressive style that he wields with the efficiency of a third degree black belt comic book ninja. He has given each character their on distinct style while making them fit together seamlessly. Matteo also has an uncanny way of conveying emotion through the faces of the characters. Whether it is the surprised anger of one of the girls faces as she gets “goosed” or a hapless dog/man who is telling a sob story, their expressions are dead on.

Now they say beauty is only skin deep so it’s a good thing Howard Shum has written this book personality in spades. Within the first five pages you see each of the main character’s personalities almost completely defined. The angry one, the spaz, the leader, and the brainy one all pop off the page not to mention some hilarious dialogue. I was completely swept away in the story telling. It was almost hypnotizing because it felt that I had just started reading when the issue ended and I was stuck wanting more.

I’m hoping fans get behind HYPERKINETIC. I’d hate to see another good series meet it’s demise because of declining sales. So push yourself away from the keyboard and rush out to your local comic emporium to put this bad boy on your pull list. You sha’nt be disappointed. "
